Emily Moffitt's retires GP stallion Copain du Perchet

British rider Emily Moffitt announced via her social media yesterday that her Grand Prix stallion Copain Du Perchet CH is going into sporting retirement.

Copain Du Perchet spent most of his young career under the saddle of Swiss rider Edwin Smits, joining Cian O'Connor in 2017. Under the Irishman, the stallion scored numerous victories in a short time, including CSI 5* classes in Villach, Rotterdam, Falsterbo, Aachen and Dublin.

Poden Farms invested in the black stallion later that year for Emily Goffitt, who subsequently took over the reins from O'Connor. In August last year, the duo jumped their last competition, after which Lorenzo De Luca brought Copain out successfully once more at the 4* show in St Tropez.

So now Moffit announced she is retiring her faithful friend: "It is every girl's dream to have such a beautiful horse like Copain. I remember seeing him for the first time and being in awe, and that feeling has never faded. I am the luckiest girl to have been able to ride so many special horses in my life. Copain, you are one of them. A fine retirement buddy," proclaimed the rider.
