Fans choose portrait for charity auction
A framed portrait of Hickstead Derby winner Adventure De Kannan voted by fans as their favourite will be auctioned off at next week’s Hickstead Derby Meeting to raise funds for the Mark Davies Injured Riders’ Fund.

Equine photographer Matthew Seed was commissioned to create a series of photographs of Trevor Breen and ‘Addy’, known as the ‘one-eyed wonder horse’, after winning Hickstead’s most famous class. The collection of images were released on Hickstead’s Facebook page, with showjumping fans encouraged to vote for their favourite.

The image to be auctioned was the runaway winner, receiving 44% of the total of 1030 votes. It will be displayed on Matthew Seed’s stand (62-63) throughout this year’s Equestrian.com Hickstead Derby Meeting, with visitors encouraged to visit the stand to admire it.

“I’m really pleased this image won, as it was my personal favourite,” said Hickstead Director Lizzie Bunn. “It really shows the closeness between Trevor and ‘Addy’, and many of our Facebook fans talked about the true beauty and emotion of the portrait. I am looking forward to seeing it displayed at the show.”

The image will be auctioned off in aid of the Mark Davies Injured Riders’ Fund, Hickstead’s charity of the year. The framed portrait will measure 36in x 36in and will be signed by the photographer.

Online bidding has opened, and will close at noon on Sunday, June 28.
