Women quit horse riding because of .... breast pain
Following a recent survey more and more women quit horse riding because of one reason; breast pain. The survey revealed a lack of energy and time are however the major reasons why women quit their hobby. Also work related obligations prevent them from riding horses.

A total of 1324 women participated for the research, held in 2014. Women were asked to give an insight in their personal life style, physical activities, etc.

Over 40% of the participants admitted to have pain in the breasts after riding horses. Following the scientists opinion the pain relates not only to the movement but also the size of the breasts. (51% of the women have a D cup or larger).

The study was carried out by academics at Sparsholt College and the University of Portsmouth, including biomechanics specialist Dr Jenny Burbage.

Dr Burbage said they decided to research this area as they had heard a lot about it anecdotally.

“We have evidence now that breast pain is quite prevalent in the riding population,” she told
