Geir Gulliksen's Edesa S Banjan is retired from the sport

Edesa S Banjan (Toulon x Lys de Darmen) is sent on a well-deserved retirement at the age of 21.

With Geir Gulliksen in the saddle, the BWP gelding collected several top placings in the international showjumping sport. The duo represented Norway at the European Championships in 2015 and 2017, among others. In addition, they also performed at the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014. In 2015, the two also featured in the FEI World Cup Final in Las Vegas. Gulliksen and Banjan were last seen together in the arena at a national Grand Prix in Oslo last October.

"Banjan has been a really important horse for me. He was perhaps not the biggest super-star of them all, but he did so many championships with me and has a lot of good results at the highest level. Banjan was a real working horse, that always delivered - with a really nice character", Gulliksen tells World of Showjumping.

"Banjan is still in great shape, and he could easily have kept going but at the age 21 he is no longer allowed to compete internationally. He looks more like an 8-year old in the body of a 21-year old", Gulliksen smiles. The gelding may now enjoy a well-deserved retirement in Belgium with his daughter, Victoria Gulliksen.
