Gestüt Lewitz mourns the loss of Conthargos

From Gestüt Lewitz this afternoon came the sad news that the licensed breeding stallion Conthargos (Converter I) has passed away at the age of 18. Conthargos was a top sire who saw several of his offspring dominate the international show jumping scene. With over 25 approved sons, the Oldenburg stallion more than made his mark on top sport breeding over the past decades.

The Oldenburg stallion was Paul Schockemöhle's secret weapon and saw several of his offspring dominate the show jumping scene at the highest level. Just at the end of last year, Conthargos ranked 26th in the WBFSH Sire Ranking. The big bay stallion passed on his fantastic genes to a wide field of offspring, some even with Olympic results. The stallion's offspring are unmissable in today's show jumping sport with riders such as Gregory Wathelet, Ben Maher, Simon Delestre,... all of whom have (had) a Conthargos son or daughter under the saddle. Some of them include the Grand Prix horses Conchento PSConconaEasy GirlConneticutCosa Nostra and Pia Contra.

"Thank you, Conthargos!"

Gestüt Lewitz, together with Schockemöhle the breeders of Conthargos, posted the following on their official Facebook page:

"We mourn the loss of Conthargos ... Far too soon we had to say goodbye to our Conthargos. One of the great fathers has left the stage much too soon. We think back to the beautiful moments and are grateful for 18 years with him. Thank you, Conthargos!"
