Yesterday came completely unexpected news from Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann's stable that her only 13-year-old grey gelding Büttner's Minimax had passed away, the German rider shared on her social media.
The son of Cornado, with whom Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann competed at the Stuttgart German Masters only a few weeks ago, lost his life at only 13 years old. No further information is yet known about the cause of death of the grey gelding.
On her official Instagram page, the rider announced, "You left us today, far too early and totally unexpected. Our whole team is in great mourning and I am so sad that I am at a loss for words."
"You were my beloved unicorn, my friend, my superstar, my hero and stand-up guy. You were the boss in the stables and a showman at tournaments. You loved the big stage. No obstacle was too high, no ditch too wide and no crowd too loud. You had many fans and everyone wanted to be photographed with you during stable tours. We will all miss you tremendously and I will miss you the most," Meyer-Zimmermann said goodbye to her great friend.
Minimax and Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann won the Grand Prix at this year's Turnier der Sieger in Münster. In 2015, Janne Meyer took over the reins from Franz-Josef "Peppi" Dahlmann. She brought him into the big, international sport. Then he had his first M placings.
