Sofia Westborg passes on Alencia Von Hary Z to Swedish Junior rider

Sofia Westborg and the very successful Alencia Von Hary Z part ways after a partnership of roughly seven months.

The 12-year-old Zangersheide mare is a daughter of Action-Breaker and was bred by Heinz Mertens. Elke Appeltans got her as an eight-year-old under the saddle and made her international debut with the mare in the fall of 2020. In the U25 category, the duo managed to claim several wins, including three in Lanaken, one of which was the 1.45m Grand Prix! Just under three years later, they took their first steps at CSI4* level before the mare moved to Sweden with Sofia Westborg.

Westborg had a successful start with Alencia and immediately secured double silver in Bonheiden during their first competition together. They then found the podium together a total of fifteen times, with eight victories under their belt. After a collaboration of over six months, it is time for the Swede to bid farewell. She hands over the reins to another Swedish rider, who is not yet known.

"Thank you Alencia. After 7 months and lot of success our little winner is leaving to a new lucky rider in Sweden. Greatful for our time with this star who’s been nearly unbeatable the last months, winning 2 classes in Mechelen and 6 classes in Spain, 4 in a row at 145m level", Westborg said.

"It makes us happy to pass Alencia on to a lovely home in Sweden where she can live her best life and hopefully give her new junior rider us much joy and good moments as she gave us."
