João Marquilhas and Jacarta Equigenne best in Saturday's CSI5*-W Sharjah Sports Council Cup

A rather calm day in Sharjah opened with the Cavalor Speed Cup, which was won by Shane Breen and Z7 Ipswich. The second and already last class before the battle of the Six Bars would burst loose, was the CSI5*-W Sharjah Sports Council Cup. This 1.50m high class, counting for the Longines Ranking, had João Marquilhas on top with Jacarta Equigenne.

Only seven out of the over thirty combinations managed to go clear and make it into the jump-off. The Portugese didn't touch a single pole aboard of the 10yo KWPN mare, Jacarta Equigenne (Lord Z). Their time of 35,52s put them in first place. His compatriot, Duarte Seabra (POR) followed closely in the saddle of HHS Washington (Tinaranas Inspector) and also stayed clear of the poles with a time of 36,21s. With 36,16s on the clock, Luiz Felipe Neto de Azevedo (BRA) and Valentino Massuere (Canturo) took second place in front of Seabra.

Michael Pender (IRL) went all in with HHS Fortune (Catoki) and finished in a blazing 32,84s but one pole down left them in fourth place. Ramzy Al Duhami (KSA) concluded on five with Addressee (Messenger).
