“Never Seen Anything Like It!” Julien Anquetin storms to victory in LGCT of Shanghai

Day one of the Longines Global Champions Tour of Shanghai came to a close with Julien Anquetin and 9 year old Farah Tame taking the top spot in the €56,800 CSI5* 1.45m speed class by less than half a second. It was a full day of world-class equestrian sport, dazzling entertainment, and an electrifying atmosphere that captivated audiences from around the globe.

Gilles Thomas (BEL) distinguished himself as the second-best rider with the Fantomas de Muze son Feromas van Beek Z and secured second place with the 12-year-old Zangersheide stallion. A difference of approximately half a second determined victory for Julien Anquetin (FRA) and the 9-year-old Farah Tame (Quadrio Tame). Lukaku vd Bisschop, a 13-year-old gelding by Plot Blue ridden by Harry Allen (IRL), claimed third place.

LGCT Grand Prix of Miami 2024 third place rider Julien explained: “It’s crazy here in Shanghai. I’ve really never seen anything like this before. It’s amazing - the lights, the atmosphere, it all has just been phenomenal today.”

Daniel Deusser (GER) guided the stallion Otello de Guldenboom (Tobago Z) to fourth place. Jérôme Guery (BEL) initially took the lead in the trial with the 10-year-old Come Away Flamingo Z (Cardento) and ultimately finished fifth.

In sixth place was Brazil’s Marlon Modolo Zanotelli riding Zy-Zento. The pair rubbed a rail in the final combination but came home on 0 faults. On his birthday Denis Lynch expertly piloted his stallion Vistogrand through the challenging course to take seventh place.
