Julien Gonin league of his own in 3* main class of Hubside Jumping Valence

The 3* 1.50m main class at Hubside Jumping saw only eleven competitors at the start. The best of the bunch turned out to be the outstanding Frenchman Julien Gonin, who took victory by a wide margin on the back of 10-year-old Caprice de Guinfard (Mylord Carthago).

The home crowd gave the French riders wings, loudly encouraging Julien Gonin to victory. Gonin, in the saddle of 10-year-old Caprice de Guinfard, stayed clear in a lightning-fast 57.97 seconds, placing him unchallenged at the top of the leaderboard. His compatriot Jean Luc Mourier followed well behind in second place aboard the 11-year-old Zina (Comte) with a chrono of 62.27 seconds. More than five and a half seconds later, Dutchman Kevin Jochems took on the back of the 9-year-old stallion Calox (Cador 5) the bronze with the third time at zero penalties.

Wilm Vermeir remained last without faults. In a time of 68.46 seconds, the Belgian was allowed to enter the prize-giving ceremony in fouth place on the 10-year-old grey mare History Van'T Ameldonk Z (Horion de Libersart). Ahead of Stephex Stables' Kendra Claricia Brinkop, who ended fifth with the 8-year-old chestnut mare Takotak Z (Telstar de La Pomme).
