Dutch supremacy outtook the competition in the 2nd round of the GCL in Doha! After Jur Vrieling claimed the first round with El Rocco, he guided the 15-year-old KWPN gelding to bronze in the second round. However, the best Dutch performance came from Maikel van der Vleuten, who triumphed on Dywis HH against a strong international field.
The victory went to a strong Maikel van der Vleuten (NED). The Dutchman guided Dywis HH (Toulon) to the finish in a fast time of 61.00s. The Dutch celebration continued with Jur Vrieling taking bronze. After his victory in the first round with El Rocco (Zirocco Blue), he still had some strength left to finish here in 62.41s. With 61.79s on the clock, Richard Howley (IRL) followed closely behind in second place. He rode Equine America Consulent de Prelet Z, a Zangersheide gelding by Consulent Z.
The Irish were also well represented, with Mark McAuley finishing fourth on the back of the Amaretto D Arco daughter, Grs Lady Amaro, in 63.57s. Christian Kukuk (GER) took the fifth place aboard Checker 47 (Comme il Faut) with a time of 63.62s.
