Simon Delestre jumps to gold in 5* 1.45m class of Geneva

Simon Delestre has come to Geneva in great shape! After a top-ten ranking in the opening class this morning, he made complete short work of the competition just now, finishing at the very top of the standings in the 5* 1.45m class in the saddle of the 9-year-old KWPN gelding Iniesta V (Zambesi TN).

Frenchman Simon Delestre eventually won the class, although his compatriot Melanie Cloarec did not make it easy for him. Delestre stayed double clear in the saddle of Iniesta V in a time of 25.26 seconds, which was just over half a second faster than Cloarec and the 9-year-old BWP chestnut mare Nora de Mariposa Pleville (Elvis Ter Putte). Willem Greve, not long back from injury, sent the 10-year-old KWPN stallion Highway M TN (Eldorado van de Zeshoek) to bronze in a clear 26.60 seconds.

At the back of the starting list, Gilles Thomas came in action with the 11-year-old Luna van het Dennehof (Prince van de Wolfsakker). The young Belgian set a chrono of 27.43 seconds, finishing fifth, seventy hundredths of Victor Bettendorf. The Luxembourger followed just behind the podium, stopping the clocking at 26.71 seconds on the back of Simolo de la Roque Z (Spartacus TN).
