2022 Old Salem Farms Spring Horse Shows: Return of World-Class Competition & Renovated Grand Prix Arena

North Salem, New York – April 11, 2022 – Spring is in bloom in Westchester County’s horse country, and with it marks the return of the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows, one of the premier stops on the nation’s hunter-jumper horse show circuit. The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows are set to return May 10-22, offering a full schedule of world-class competition featuring the nation’s best horses and riders.


There is an added sense of anticipation for this year’s horse shows as it will mark the unveiling of Old Salem’s new all-purpose Grand Prix arena as well as newly cultivated landscaping throughout the farm. “We are so excited about our new Grand Prix arena and beautiful new grounds,” said Scott Hakim, owner of Old Salem Farm. “We’ve been working hard in collaboration with McLain Ward, our co-chair for the Spring Horse Shows, to enhance the facilities and offer a new schedule with expanded options for riders of all levels. Everything has progressed as well as we could have hoped and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Old Salem Farm in May.” 

Located just one hour north of New York City, Old Salem Farm has a long history of hosting world-class horse shows. Over the years, Old Salem Farm has hosted United States Olympic Team Selection Trials, FEI World Cup™ qualifiers, FEI North American Youth Championships and ASPCA Maclay Regional Finals.

The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows host competitions for riders of all levels and ages, ranging from young children on ponies to Olympic veterans, such as five-time Olympic rider McLain Ward, aboard their grand prix mounts. Each week’s show is USEF ‘Premier-6’ rated for hunters and jumpers, and the shows are designated FEI CSI3* for Week 1 (May 10-15) and CSI4* for Week 2 (May 17-22).

The Spring Horse Shows kick off with an unrated Welcome Weekend open to all, May 7-8. Highlights include the Salem 2’6” Hunter Derby and Brewster 3’ Hunter Derby on Sunday, May 8. The Spring Horse Shows’ Week 1 follows, May 10-15, with highlights including the $40,000 1.50m Welcome Stake, $37,000 FEI 1.45m Jump-off, $10,000 Old Salem Farm Speed Derby, $15,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame High Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic Presented by Eastern Hay and the $125,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix Presented by The Kincade Group.

Week 2 competition, May 17-22, features the $65,000 Welcome Stake of North Salem Presented by The Kincade Group, $37,000 FEI 1.45m Jump-off Presented by Alliant Private Client, $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby Presented by Mane ‘n Tail in the Grand Prix arena, $15,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame High Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic and the $5,000 Old Salem Farm Grooms Class before concluding on Sunday, May 22, with the $200,000 Empire State Grand Prix. Action starts daily at 8:00 a.m. with classes running in three rings simultaneously throughout the day.

VIP table seating is available for an unbeatable view of the Grand Prix arena and gourmet farm-to-table fare. Old Salem Farm food vendors provide meals to go and delicious snack options.
