CHIO Rotterdam rescheduled to July 1-4

Rotterdam, April 22nd 2021 - With the official approval by FEI, KNHS and the City of Rotterdam the CHIO Rotterdam is rescheduled to July 1-4, 2021. Meanwhile, the CHIO Organisation has partnered with Horse & Country for media coverage of the 72nd edition of the international equestrian event, and plans for the live broadcast and streaming are well advanced.

"With the approval of our new date it's getting more and more likely that CHIO Rotterdam will take place this year, although we still consider all scenario's", says Ron Voskuilen, general director of CHIO Rotterdam. "As the chances for a full-blown edition of the event, including spectators and merchandise village, are very limited, we are working behind the scenes with H&C to make the broadcast of the event via live TV and online possible, ensuring equestrian fans don’t have to miss their favorite riders and horses performing in Rotterdam."

"We're extremely grateful with the support of all stakeholders enabling us to organize our event this year", says Theo de Rooij, president of CHIO Rotterdam. "We had very positive feedback from the riders as the new date for many of them will be a very important moment of measurement on their way to the Olympics in Tokyo. We realize this 72nd edition will be very different from other editions of CHIO Rotterdam. There is little chance we can welcome the crowd to our venue this year, we're hoping to have some small COVID-19 proof hospitality. But with live TV and online broadcasting we like to ensure nobody will have to miss any rider or horse."
