Dutch make it a home Nations Cup win in Rotterdam

It was an exciting FEI Longines Nations Cup competition at the CHIO in Rotterdam. In front of the cheering home crowd the Dutch showjumping team took the lead after the first round and managed to hold on it.

After his first round Maikel van der Vleuten was again the first to start for the home-team. Aboard his trusted 12-year-old Beauville Z (Bustique), Van der Vleuten again produced a clear round, making the home spectators go wild.

The Grand Prix winners of last year, Sanne Thijssen and her trusted  Con Quidam RB (Quinar) produced a clear first round, but had some bad luck in the second round. Willem Greve corrected this immediately following at the start and making a clear finish with the 11-year-old  Grandorado TN (Eldorado vd Zeshoek).

For the Netherlands to win last rider at the start, Harrie Smolders and the 13-year-old gelding, Monaco (Cassini II) had to finish with a max of 8 points. As last riders at the start Smolders secured a clear finish, ensuring the home-win.

France followed on stage with 8 points while team Ireland claimed bronze.
