Brussels Airport organised the biggest equine transport by air in history
Today Horses have left Europe by plane for the Middle East. Nothing special, although it were 86 horses in one flight. "This is a new record" state the Brussels Airport authorities.  A total of 86 horses in one flight is the biggest equestrian transport by air, in history.

"Usually flights have about 30 or 40 horses. At most fifty," continues Steven Polmans, Director of the Brussels Airport Company. "This exceptional flight is a first in Europe. Lucky we are prepared. An equestrian transport of this size asks a lot of flexibility and expertise."

On Tuesday the Arabic horses got a last medic check. After the horses were placed in their so called 'air stal'. Those stalls are placed in the plane, that will be air born for about seven hours. The horses are transported in a Boeing 747-400F, one of the biggest cargo planes in the world.
