Diana van de Bovenkamp at IC after kick of horse
Dutch dressage Young Rider Diana van de Bovenkamp currently lies on intensive care in Utrecht, after being hit by her horse. She’s currently in a coma. The accident happened at home, at the amazon’s stables.

No one knows exactly how the accident occurred. Van de Bovenkamp wanted to lunge a horse when she sustained several fractures. Her cheekbone, nose and mandible are broken, and her upper jaw is shattered.

Diana’s mother gave the following update: “Around noon they have tried to remove life support, but due to the massive swelling in her throat and the huge pains it was put back. Right now, everything seems to indicate that she didn’t suffer from brain damage, which is of course good news. But we still have to wait and see. With this news we are already very pleased and released, because it could have ended a lot worse.”

Diana is still in intensive care, but luckily here condition is stable. The young rider earned her spot in the spotlights after her participation in the European Championships for juniors. Together with the 9-year old gelding Corvette (v. Rhodium) she and her team won the silver medal.
