Marcus Ehning and Stargold impress in Rolex Grand Prix CHIO Aachen

The German combinations dominated the difficult but fair built 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen. With a total of five pairs at the start in the final Jump-Off it was Marcus Ehning and his 12-year-old Stargold (Stakkato) setting the unbeatable performance, claiming the 500.000 euro first prize. For Ehning this is his third Aachen GP victory. His first dates back to 2006.

McLain Ward and his trusted HH Azur  felt the pressure as 'Rolex Live Contenders', unfortunately it wasn't their day, resulting in a retirement along the course. In the end it was Marcus Ehning who set the unbeatable performance of three clear rounds in 45.12 seconds. Aboard his  Stargold  the German rider referred compatriot, Daniel Deusser with his 13-year-old Killer Queen VDM (Eldorado vd Zeshoek) to the runner-up position.

Deusser and his Belgian Warmblood-mare, bred by Dirk en Ann Bruggeman - Carpentier were, together with Ehning to only combination to produce a three-time clear performance. With the fastest time but one jumping fault, Germany's Philipp Weishaupt completed the stage aboard Zineday (Zinedine).

The pair was followed by Brasil's Rodrigo Pessoa and his BWP-gelding, Major Tom (Vagabond de la Pomme). The top five was completed by Eugenio Garza Perez and Contago (Cornet Obolensk).
