On January 16, 2017 the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden will host its annual Swedish Sports Gala. Created in 2000, the awards ceremony honors the past year’s Swedish sports and athletes’ achievements during a night of music, confetti, and black tie glamour.

Recently named to the shortlist of athletes nominated for Best Swedish Male Athlete is 44-year-old Olympic show jumper Peder Fredricson.

Fredericson's 2016 Rio performance attracted enormous attention and appreciation after a beautiful clear with the 10-year-old SBS gelding H&M All In (Kashmir Van Schuttershof x Andiamo Z), crossing the timers in 43.35 seconds secured the Individual Olympic Silver Medal.

This is not the first time that a Swedish equestrian has been recognized for excellence in sport. Fellow Olympic show jumper Rolf-Göran Bengtsson was awarded the ‘Jerring Prize’ for his major 2011 season achievements including the gold medal at the European Show Jumping Championship in Madrid, Spain aboard the KWPN gelding Ninja (Guidam x Lys De Darmen) at the Swedish Sports Gala in 2012.
