Remeber... the horses of World War I
About 100 years ago the World War I brought terror in Europe. The British Hurst Green Shires already draws the attention on the fact not only human soldiers died in this terrible war, also a lot of horses fought light patriots.

The British's stable premium stallion Hercules is directly descended from a pair of Shire's who served in France in 1914. The stallions from Hurst Green Shires – famous for their annual race day at Lingfield in July – have been participating in World War 1 commemorative events throughout Britain’s South East in recent days.

According to statistics over a million horses were taken to the battlefields of World War I, an estimated of 65 to 75 percent did not return. That is why the Hurst Green Shires want to draw the attention on remembering those shires that got lost fighting for men.
