German eventer Michael Jung has officially retired his 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games team gold medalist and three-time Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event winner fischerRocana FST from competition.
“Last year due to COVID, she only went [to] a few small tournaments [because we hoped we could] start again this year,” Jung’s translated Facebook post read. “She enjoyed a great winter break with [La Biosthetique-Sam FBW,] and when we realized it wouldn’t be much different this year with the big classics, I decided to take her out of the sport. Because what else can she prove? I think my little fighter has shown more than enough what she can do.”
"Vorig jaar zijn we op enkele kleinere wedstrijden gestart in de hoop dit jaar opnieuw op niveau te kunnen rijden," schrijft Jung. "Maar door COVID-19 en EHV-1 hebben we nu de definitieve stop beslist."
Jung en fischerRocana reden tot op een CCI4* niveau. Het duo startte de samenwerking in 2011 en haalde toen onder andere de winst tijdens het Wereldkampioenschap voor jonge eventingpaarden. Op het palmares pronkt eveneens een individueel zilveren medaille tijdens het EK in Stzegom in 2014.
