France wins Nations Cup Knokke

After five years the FEI Nations Cup season returned to Belgium at Stephan Conter his CSIO5* Knokke Hippique. A total of nine countries took the start. In an exciting Nations Cup the stage was eventually decided in a Jump-Off between France, the Netherlands, Sweden and host, Belgium. In the end France took home the win.

The moment Peder Fredricson was the was the last rider at the start with his 16-year-old Catch Me Not S (Cardento) and jumped one rail down, the crowd was amazed and a bit excited at the same time. This result meant a Jump-Off between four countries.

First at the start in this Nations Cup was Marc Houtzager with Sterrehof's Dante N.O.P. (Canturano). The pair jumped the first rail down and eventually finished with two jumping faults in 38,77 seconds.

France followed at the start aboard Caracole de  la Roque (Zandor Z). Epaillard got lucky ticking the rail in the double, but it stayed and the French pair made a clear finish in 33,89 seconds setting pressure on Belgium and Sweden.

Local hero, reigning Belgian champion, Jos Verlooy followed at the start with his Olympic mount, Igor (Emerald). On the Audi-jump one rail felt down. The pair eventually crossed the finish with one jumping fault in 34,68 seconds. It was up to Peder Fredricson with Catch Me Not S to decide who would take home the Nations Cup victory. The pair crossed the finish in 34,62 seconds.

France took home the win leaving Sweden as runner-up. Host Belgium completed the stage.
