Giulia Martinengo Marquet secures Italian home victory in CSI3* Grand Prix of Gorla Minore

Gorla Minore, Italy, was 'the place to be' all weekend for a Nations Cup at CSI3* level. The day just ended with the Grand Prix of the CSI3* competition. 51 combinations ventured their way and were presented with quite a tough basic course. Yet 11 combinations managed to get through the first round without any jumping faults. So a jump-off with eleven combinations had to be decisive. In that jump-off, the Portuguese and Italian riders were in very good form.

Victory went to Giulia Martinengo Marquet at the last minute. The Italian rider managed to tighten the time of Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida, who had led until then. She rode Scuderia 1918 Calle Deluxe (by Cesano) clear to the finish, clocking in 38.18 seconds. Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida therefore had to make peace with second place. He counted on Quirados Z (by Quidam de Revel) to ride clear to the finish in 40.35 seconds. Adir Dias De Abreu also came pretty close to his compatriot's time with his 10-year-old stallion Dartanion (by Diabu L). The duo left the wood untouched and clocked off in 40.73 seconds. This earned him third place.

Constantin Cojocariu followed in fourth place. Riding Huracan RC (by Cortez), he was also able to record a clear round behind his name, stopping the chrono after 38.86 seconds. The top five was completed by Massimo Grossato and Cash du Pratel (by L'Arc de Triomphe). They recorded a very fast round (38.09 seconds) but a jumping fault threw a spanner in the works.
