Julien Epaillard and Pedro Veniss start strong with new horses in Rome

The first 5* 1.45m competition of Rome this morning was won by Pedro Veniss, where he was the fastest in the jump-off. Afterwards, it was Julien Epaillard who was victorious in the two phase-class over 1.45m.

Pedro Veniss rode Cadum de Champloue (v. Diamant de Semilly), who he only had under his saddle since the beginning of may. It's the first victory for the pair together, being only their third show. The eleven year old mare was earlier shown by Ricardo Jurado and Leticia Riva Gil, both Spanish riders. The pair was half a second faster than Jodie Hall Mcateer with Catoki (v. Kannan), who came in second position. The top three was concluded by the Belgian Koen Vereecke with Lector vd Bisschop (v. Bamako de Muze).

Emanuele Gaudiano followed closely with Julius.D (v. Arezzo VDL) but had to settle for fourth place with only eight hundredths difference. John Whitaker took home fifth place with Green Grass (v. Luidam).

Julien Epaillard speeds to victory in consecutive class

The consecutive class was also a 1.45m course but without a jump-off, ridden over a two-phase. Here it was Julien Epaillard who rode the fastest time with Dubai de Soie (v. Quaoukoura du TY). The ten year old stallion also is a recent addition to Epaillard's team. The pair started showing at the end of April and now take home their first victory. Place two and three both stayed in Italy. Francesco Correddu rode to second with Necofix (v. Eco Del Castegno) and left his compatriot Graziano Tazzi on three, in the saddle of Mash Ipei (v. Contendro).
