Stockholm Hearts take the lead in GCL Madrid

In Madrid this weekend there will be jumping at the highest level. Just now, the CSI5* riders already came into action for a first round of the Global Champions League. A height of 1m55 was jumped directly against the clock and the Stockholm Hearts of Olivier and Nicola Philippaerts are in the lead after this first round. Both brothers managed to keep the clear and got a total time of 132.62 seconds. Nicola Philippaerts was fastest with H&M Luna van't Ruytershof (by Levisto Z) with a time of 63.63 seconds. This also earned him third place in the individual standings. Olivier took it a little easier in the saddle of Mr Idol S (by Plot Blue), clocking 68.99 seconds.

The Paris Panthers with Jur Vrieling and Harrie Smolders followed in second place. Vrieling rode Long John Silver 3 NOP (by Lasino) clear in 69.00 seconds. Smolders, in the saddle of Uricas vd Kattevennen (by Uriko), was also able to record a clear round behind his name in 66.98 seconds. 

The St Tropez Pirates with Katrin Eckermann (Cala Mandia) and Simon Delestre (I Amelusina R51) completed the provisional top three.

In the individual competition, Brazilian Francisco José Mesquita Musa rode to victory. She 15-year-old Catch me Marathon (by Contagio) left all the bars in the scoops and clocked off in 60.26 seconds. Edward Levy followed with Broadway de Mormoulin (by Kannan) in second place. This French combination left the wood untouched and clocked off in 62.56 seconds. 

Samuel Hutton (Casablanca-H) and Manuel Fernandez Saro (Jarlin de Torres) finished in places four and five.
