They were the last to start, but set a record time. Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann and his Belgian championship horse, King Edward jumped into the lead in the 1.60m Speed and Handiness at the FEI World Cup finals in Omaha.
For a long time it was Scott Brash (GBR) and his Hello Jefferson (ex. Jerenmias van het Hulstenhof) standing in the lead of the ranking. The British-rider and his 14-year-old son of Cooper vd Heffinck, bred by Bernard Mols, stopped the time in 59.23 seconds.
In the end, as last rider at the start, Henrik von Eckermann and his Belgian Warmblood-gelding, King Edward (Edward, breeder: Wim Impens) managed to cross the finish in 50.09 seconds. Taking the lead and holding on to it, von Eckermann is now two points ahead in the overall standing.
With a clear finish in 59.45 seconds, Germany's Daniel Deusser completes the stage of this 1.60m first round aboard Stephan Conter's 15year-old Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z (Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve).
Also 60-year-old rider Pius Schwizer managed to keep the time in under 60 seconds. Together with Vancouver de Lanlore (Toulon) he advanced on Sweden's Wilma Hellström and Cicci BJN (Ci Ci Senjor ASK).
