McNerney and Pessoa Lead Thursday’s Open Jumpers at 2023 Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows

Course designer Ken Krome built several single-phase speed tracks for Thursday’s Open Jumper division at the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows. Although Colin Syquia (PHI) proved the fastest in the 1.40m Open Jumper, it was Hilary McNerney (USA) who brought home first and second places with the only two fault-free rounds.

McNerney’s 1-2 finish came from her smooth and steady rounds aboard her own Riscalino (Riscal La Silla) and VDL Kane (Harley VDL), who stopped the clock in 83.765 and 88.393 seconds respectively. Syquia earned third with Seahorse Show Stable’s Hocus Pocus, tripping the timers on the fastest four-fault score of 79.898 seconds.

In the 1.30m Open Jumper, Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) was the one to beat with Clover M Sporthorses LLC’s Lady D (Echo van 't Spieveld), putting in a faultless time of 72.541 seconds. Peter Lutz (USA) and Libertas Farm LLC’s Casanova Z finished second in 73.666 seconds. Megan McDermott (USA) claimed third in a time of 74.386 seconds with Counter Balance LLC’s Bruce Z.

Other jumper highlights included Lauren Tyree’s (USA) victory in the 1.20m Open Jumper, riding Laura Murphy’s Ea De Casavieja through the timers in 81.877 seconds. Steven Bluman (ISR) was second aboard Daniel Bluman’s Magic Mike Z.G. for his time of 83.839 seconds. Jean Van Gysel (BEL) finished third in 84.238 seconds with his Elixir Du Houlbec.
