Holland vd Bisschop to enjoy sportive retirement. "He has his own mind, but in the ring, he's a fighter!"

Dutch showjumping rider, Remco Been, has announced the sportive retirement of his Grand-Prix-horse,  Holland vd Bisschop ( breeder: Tom De Craene). Nine years the combination jumped in the spotlights at an international level. "On his level he was a real top horse ... we won no less than 10 Grand Prix's," Been reacts.

This year the son by Heartbreaker turns 17-years of age. "He will soon enjoy his sportive retirement," says the Dutch jumping rider. "I will find a nice spot for him at my stable..."

"How can I best describe Holland? He was simply sublime. A super cool horse with his own character. But definitely a fighter!" continues Been. "I still remember our first Grand Prix together in Hardelot. Of course, every Grand Prix we rode was special, but our first Grand Prix, that remains etched in my memory."

In total, the duo achieved 19 international victories. The pair won the CSIO3* Nations Cup at the Peelbergen last year. Additionally, they triumphed in the 1.50m Grand Prix events in Poznan, Hardelot, and Zwolle. In the 1.55m Grand Prix competitions in Ommen and Zwolle, the duo also outperformed the competition.

"If he could understand me, I can only thank him infinitely. I have a few nice young horses still in the stable, but one like Holland? That will be very difficult to find... we'll see what the future holds. Holland can now enjoy his retirement!"
