The future of Olympics Showjumping and Nations Cup format: "The FEI Will be to blame for the chaos in Tokyo..."

Last weekend the IJRC held its General Assembly together with the FEI in Rotterdam. Focus points were the new Olympic Format and Nations Cup format as well as the stable security with an eye on contaminations. "A subject that is very sensitive..."

Some of the major Quotes of the meeting

About the Nations Cup format: "There are certainly structural things that we can improve. We hope to be able to do this together, so I would say we will come back in Barcelona with our proposal for the future," Ingmar De Vos said.

"The Nations Cup series is about representing your country. It is not about the money. I feel we are getting lost and it definitely has to be discussed with the riders how the future will be. The standard has dropped, so we need to act now," Shane Sweetnam stated.

About the Olympic Games

"The new set of rules, they have been approved. It has gone through all FEI hierarchies and General Assembly, so this is what we have at the moment," said Stephan Ellenbruch.

"I believe we all know there is no hope for any big changes for the Olympics. But I want everybody (with a focus on the journalists) to know that the FEI is going to be the only one responsible for the mess we are going to see in Tokyo. Because you did listen, but you didn't really listen to what we were saying," said Steve Guerdat.
