PB Maserati passed away after fall in GP-qualifier Mannheim

Today the Grand Prix is scheduled in Mannheim. However yesterday was a black day at the Mannheimer Maimarkt-Turnier. In the Grand Prix qualifier  PB Maserati (Emerald) shattered his elbow.

The ten-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding fell in the course and wasn't able to stand up again. The horse was eventually transported to the nearest equine clinic, with the help of professor Kuno von Plock.

The injury couldn't be operated, after which the owners, rider and veterinarians decided to euthanize the horse. "PB Maserati doesn't deserve this," reacts rider, Pia Reich. "I am deeply shocked. This is one of the worst days in my life. He was my trusted partner and friend for years."

Last year the gelding showed for a period with Steve Guerdat in the saddle.
