Rodrigo Pessoa: "If I didn't go to the competition with my father, sometimes I didn't see him for weeks"

Growing up in a family that has nothing to do with horses is not easy for riders who want to make it at the higher level. It seems like riders whose parents do ride horses or are into horses always get the right horses and many more opportunities. Yet it's not always easy to follow in your family's footsteps, especially when your father is one of the best riders of all time. That's what Rodrigo Pessoa tells us, who was compared to his legendary father, Nelson, starting at a very young age. He tells us how he started riding, what his childhood years were like and how difficult it was to stand in his father's shadow. "If I didn't go with him to the different competitions, sometimes I didn't see my father for weeks," he tells us.
