Drama for the Dutch as Adelinde Cornelissen has to stop Dressage test

Today the kicked off for the dressage riders with their first day in the Grand Prix, were Suzanne Hearn and Remmington are the overnight leaders.  However the Dutch did not have the flying start they hoped for as one of their top contenders  Adeline Cornelissen had to stop her dressage test because her Parzival horse was seemed to be ill.

Parzival got an allergic reaction and infection earlier this week in Rio due to an insect bite. After treatment all seemed oke. And since Dutch reserve Madeleine Witte-Vrees did not travel to Rio with the team Cornellissen and the team of vets decided she had to go for it.

However after only a few minutes in her test Cornelissen felt things were not right and decided to pull out of the race. Now the Dutch only have Hans Peter Minderhoud, Edward Gal and Diederik van Silfhouten left,  the same team that won European Gold in Aachen last year.
