Future Barbury International Horse Trials suddenly uncertain
For the past 11 years, the Barbury International Horse Trails were ridden on the fields of Barbury Castle Estate. This beautiful fields were owned by Nigel Bunter and his wife and hosted several 3* eventing competitions. But today, the British Eventing announced that the fields are for sale, which means that the Barbury International Horse Trails may not take place anymore.

"We're still young and of course we will miss Barbury, but for us, it's enough. We think it is time to move. We're very proud that we've been a part of the Horse Trials for such a long time", says Bunter.

The organization committee of the Horse Trails thanked the family. Because of the Bunters hospitality, they were able to use the fields for several years. The fields are named after a fort from the Iron Age.

The event played a very important role for riders on their way to the Olympics. Andrew Nicholson managed to win the competition with his horse Avebury, that has pasted away recently, for a whopping four times. This year he also won the competition with is horse Nereo.

The Barbury Horse Trials are still on the calendar of 2017, but it remains a mystery if the competition will actually take place.
