As of 1 January 2022 Jos Lansink is the new bonds coach of the show jumping TeamNL. The native of Twente will succeed Rob Ehrens. Lansink has an extremely impressive record as a rider and coach and is highly regarded in the world of international showjumping.
Jos Lansink (1961) is still very active in showjumping and can look back on an extremely successful top sport career. The most beautiful medal in his trophy cabinet is the Olympic gold that he won with the team in Barcelona in 1992. Besides Lansink this golden team consisted of Piet Raijmakers and Jan Tops.
Jos Lansink speaks enthusiastically about his new challenge: "I am looking forward to working with the Dutch riders and the people involved. The Netherlands have very good riders and I think it's great to do this for the Dutch equestrian sport. I love to be at the big international shows and this is a great job that I'm looking forward to with confidence. I may have the Belgian nationality, but in my heart I will always remain a Dutchman and I like to contribute to the successes of Dutch show jumping."
Jos Lansink's international successes began in 1988 with, among other things, a victory in the Rotterdam Grand Prix and a place in the Dutch team that started at the Seoul Olympics. At that Olympic debut Lansink finished seventh with his horse Felix and fifth with the team. At the European Championships in Rotterdam 1989 (horse Felix) and La Baule 1991 (horse Egano) Lansink won bronze. In La Baule he also won his first international gold medal with the team. Another memorable victory for Lansink was in 1994 when he won the World Cup Final in 's-Hertogenbosch with the stallion Libero H.
At the end of the nineties Jos Lansink started to work at the famous Belgian stud farm Zangersheide and in 2001 he also took the Belgian nationality. As a Belgian he continued his successes and in 2006 became world champion in Aachen with the impressive grey Cumano.
In total Lansink competed at seven consecutive Olympic Games. In 2018 he rode his last international competition. During his impressive career Jos Lansink became seven times Dutch champion and once wrote the Belgian title on his name. In Belgium Lansink currently runs his sport and training stable. Until recently Dutch top rider Frank Schuttert was one of the successful riders in Lansink's stable.
"I am incredibly proud that Jos Lansink will be our new national coach," says KNHS Technical Director Iris Boelhouwer. "He has a great track record and he will use his experience and knowledge as a rider and coach for the Dutch show jumping sport. I'm really looking forward to working with him and especially after the discussions with the riders, I'm confident that Jos will make an important contribution towards the Paris Olympics."
