Young Australian jockey Tim Bell, 22, dies after falling from a high-rise balcony in Singapore
Australian jockey Tim Bell has reportedly fallen to his death from an high-rise balcony in Singapore. Sky News racing reporter Andrew Bensley tweeted news of the 22-year-old's death on Wednesday morning. 'In such sad sad news, I can report that leading Brisbane jockey Tim Bell has died overnight in Singapore. A police investigation is underway,' Mr Bensley wrote. 'I am respecting the families wishes in saying their is a police investigation. Family don't want any detail of how Tim died at this stage.'

The Australian had only recently started racing in Singapore, and rode a Group 1 winner last week, riding Sebrose to victory in the $150,000 El Dorado Classic. Bell was a rising star in the sport, after winning the 2013/14 Brisbane Jockey’s Premiership in his first season as a senior jockey. Racing fans were quick to react to the news on social media, with many mourning the young rider.

'Devastated to hear of the passing of young Tim Bell. A terrific young man that will be deeply missed by all,' one tweeted. 'From a day of celebration to a day of mourning. RIP Tim Bell,' another racing fan wrote. 'RIP bud, you will always be remembered as the life of the party. My thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful friends and family #will missyabud,' fellow jockey Tommy Berry said.
