Belgians rule the day at the CSI2* Lier
Many combinations took the start in the Azelhof's Grand Prix qualifier today in Lier, Belgium. The 1.40m class was split in two classes, both with a home-stage. The first part was claimed by Belgium's Dimitry Notermans and his 16-year-old Bacardi-Rhum de Muze (by Kannan). Together with his Belgian Warmblood sire he made a clear finish in 30.83 seconds.

Notermans' compatriot Cedrick Deknudt followed as runner-up with the Zangersheide-bred BEijing Z (by Bamako de Muze). The pair crossed the finish in 32.33 seconds. Jessica Geurts completed the stage aboard the 10-year-old Harkito van den Berg (by Calvados).

Elisabeth Kruse (Lando's Star, by Carthago Z) and Steve Lefevre (Jericho van Orti, by Emerald) completed the top five. Equnews-rider, Randy Sherman placed seventh with S&L Cocodrille (by Emerald) after a clear finish.

The second part of the GP-qualifier was claimed by Belgium's former chef d'equipe and Olympic rider, Dirk Demeersman. With under the saddle Justice van het Reigershof (by Clinton), Demeersman took an advantage of only 0.3 seconds on Marjan De Wachter. The pair stopped the clock in 30.28 seconds and left De Wachter with Darcotique v't Meulenhof (by Marius Claudius) as runner-up. Patrik Spits, who earlier won the 1.35m Equnews class, completed the stage with Verdi vd Withoeve Z (by Chellano Z).

Fabrice Galdini (Just Luck, by Cardento I) and Janine Rijkens (La Ramm, by Lancer II) followed in a fourth and fifth place.

With the seven year old horses it was local show jumping rider, Anthony Wellens who jumped to glory aboard Kuerlybet Fravanca (by Querlybet Hero).
