Update on the $30,000 Longines Rider Challenge:
Ireland’s Shane Sweetnam has climbed the ranks to sit atop the $30,000 LONGINES Rider Challenge list with 135 points. Georgina Bloomberg is just behind with 128 points and Molly Ashe-Cawley moved up to third with 120 points. The Challenge continues throughout the week and will be awarded Sunday.
Thursday’s jumper action will feature the $40,000 SOVARO Speed Stake and the Citarella Adult Amateur Jumpers. Hunters will continue with Adult Amateurs, Juniors and the Dover Saddlery / USEF Hunter Seat Medal Qualifiers.
The Hampton Classic is one of the most spectacular equestrian events in the nation, showcasing the highest levels of show jumping competition. From now through Sunday, hundreds of top riders and horses from all over the nation and world will compete for over $750,000 in prize money. The week builds towards the $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix CSI4* Presented by Douglas Elliman on Sunday, September 2, where the $30,000 LONGINES Rider Challenge will be awarded to the rider amassing the highest number of points in the show’s Open Jumper competitions.
For those who can't make it to the show grounds, complimentary live webcasts of all Grand Prix ring competitions air on the Hampton Classic website, produced by ShowNet and courtesy of LONGINES. In addition, WVVH-TV, the official Long Island television station of the Hampton Classic, broadcasts up to five hours of competition and highlights each day during the Classic.
