Delevau and Aquila HDC victrious on Dutch soil at Jumping Amsterdam

The sparks were flying of in tonight final class over 1.50m at Jumping Amsterdam. In a jump off with nine rides it was Patrice Delaveauwho won with a for the Dutch well known KWPN horse: Wout-Jan van der Schans old 5* horse Aquila HDC.

As one of the first starters it was Dutch rider Alber Zoer who set the bar for the jump-off with he grey gelding Gigolo (by Cicero Z. In the saddle of the BWP bred horse the rider put a time of 38.05 seconds on the clock in front of his home crowd. But Zoer could not enjoy his numer one position for that long as Delaveau and the KWPN gelding from Ovidius flew in to beat the time.

Last summer the horse moved to the French riders tables after the Dutch SFN had to sell the horse in online auction. Not soon after acquiring the top horse Deleveau won his first CSI2* Grand Prix in St. Lô. Then it was pretty silent around the pair. They did compete at 5* level, but always had that one little mistake. But today back in the Netherlands everything just suddenly seemed to fit. With a fenominal ride the number nine of the FEI world ranking stopped the clock on 36.96 seconds.

Belgian speed devil Jérôme Guery and his Garfield de Tiji Des Templiers (v. Quasimodo Z) did put in a good attempt to beat the French rider in a daring ride. Taking the shortest route the two crossed the finish line after 37.61 seconds. A second place in the final ranking

Jeroen Dubbeldam took Carusso Ls La Silla (v. Montebello) into the ring for tonights final class and was closed in to the top three rider too. The reigning World and European champion finished in fourth with a ride of 38.05 seconds. Fifth place went to the Italian Gianni Govani and the KWPN bred Antonio (v. Oklund).
