Derbyshire, Ward and Vale victorious in Washington
Last night was again international competition time at the Washington International Horse Show. First there was the $50,000 Speed Final presented by CP counting for the Longines Ranking and later there was the $25,000 The Boeing Company Puissance.

It was British rider Amanda Derbyshire that won the 1.50m speed competition with the eight year old Luibanta BH (s. Luidam). She was the only one in the top five that stayed clear and that's what made her win. With a time of 54.72 seconds. McLain Ward was much faster with the twelve year old mare Malou (s. Maloubet de Pleville), but they got one pole down and that's how he got a total of 54.87 seconds. Jessica Springsteen completed the top three with the Kasmir van Schuttershof offspring Davendy S. They ended with a total of 55.19 seconds. They were also really fast but got one down.

Further in the top five we saw Shane Sweetnam with Main Road (s. Heartbeat) and David Will with Calista (s. Cornet Obolensky). They finished with a total of 55.23 seconds and 55.42 seconds.

In the Puissance it was an ex aequo win. Two riders managed to jump over a wall of seven feet or 2.13m. McLain Ward did this with the Zangersheide gelding ZZ Top vh Schaarbroek Z (s. Zandor Z). Aaron Vale and the For Pleasure offspring Finou also managed to do this. They were the only two riders who got in this last round. Lauren Tisbo didn't manage to jump over the wall in round four with Mr Visto (s. Levisto) and ended in third place.
