Farrington starts the year as he ended it: being the world number one Show jumping rider
With the start of the new year it is still Kent Farrington who is titled the world number one show jumping rider. Farrington remains in the lead of the Longines Ranking list but man of the year 2017, Harrie Smolders is dangerously closing in. The Dutch show jumping rider jumps from the fifth into the runner-up position.

Farrington's compatriot, the previous number two, McLain Ward now settles for the third spot. McLain is followed by France's Kevin STaut and Sweden's Peder Fredricson.

Also Lorenzo de Luca climbs on the new Longines Ranking. The Italian show jumping rider positions himself on the sixth place just in front of new father, Maikel van der Vleuten.

Henrik von Eckermann is the new number eight while Eric Lamaze holds on on his 9th spot. Former Olympics Champion, Steve Guerdat collected enough points to complete the top ten.
