Scholarship Recipients Discuss their Goals for the 2016 Season in Remembrance of Michael Nyuis Riders are Excited to Move Up in Divisions and Attend More Shows to Gain Mileage in the Show Ring
The Michael Nyuis Scholarship was created in 2015 in memory of Dale Harvey's incredible nephew, Michael Nyuis. Michael always helped those in need and was willing to lend a hand to friends, family and strangers. As we approach the one year anniversary to Michael's passing we reflect on the person he was and celebrate his life.

Michael is remembered through the opportunities the Scholarship is providing yearly to up and coming equestrian athletes; helping others was something he was passionate about.

"The Michael Nyuis Scholarship was a way in which we could remember Michael for the wonderful person he was, it is very special to me and we miss him dearly," says Harvey. "He lives on through the recipients and the opportunities they are being given to advance their knowledge and riding careers."

The recipients recognize the opportunities the Michael Nyuis Scholarship provides and are excited to set their goals for the upcoming show season. Laura Ware, Asia Brown, Zoey Pacyna and Tyler Francis have all determined their schedules and goals for the season and are excited to share them with us! Brown, who will be traveling from Canada, is looking forward to an International experience at the Sacramento International Horse Show. She explains, "For the 2016 show season I am really looking forward to coming down to Sacramento in the fall and showing at The Sacramento International Horse Show. It is a show I have been unable to attend in the past and without this scholarship I would be unable to fit this show into my calendar this year. It is my goal for this year to achieve consistent and competitive results at the 1.40M with my older gelding and get quality show miles and exposure for my young 4 year old mare. The Michael Nyuis Scholarship will without doubt have a significant impact on my ability to achieve these 2016 goals. I look forward to traveling down in the Fall!"

Southern California shows are in the sights of Ware, who is enthusiastic about the excellent weather and beautiful venue for the Huntington Beach Horse Show Series! Ware says, "The Michael Nyuis Scholarship will help me by allowing me to attend more horse shows. Flintridge and Huntington Beach are already on our schedule for 2016, but I would love to go to Del Mar International again - I haven't shown there since I was a Junior! My goals for the year include moving up my seven-year-old to the 1.20M and, hopefully, later in the season, moving up to the 1.40M division with my nine-year-old."

Exploring new venues and challenging herself with new competition is on the agenda for Pacyna. "I am thrilled to have been granted the Michael Nyuis Scholarship this year," Pacyna exclaims. "I am so looking forward to competing at Flintridge, Paso Robles, and Del Mar International horse shows. My goal for this show season is to put in clear, solid rounds in the jumper ring. The scholarship will help me experience different venues and challenging competition."
