First rider in the jump-off was Dutch rider Harrie Smolders and his Don VHP Z (by Diamant de Semilly). The pair focussed mostly on the double shaving some time of their round by making a very short turn. The time to beat became 42.13 seconds.
Next up was French's Julian Epaillard with his Usual Suspect D'auge (by Jarnac) who took a good look at the round from Smolders. Epaillard made an ever sharper turn in the double an shaved of almost two seconds of the time ending with 40.67 seconds on the clock.
But would it be enough for the win?..
Belgian's Olivier Philippaerts was the last competitor in the jump-off with his grey H&M Legend of Love (by Landzauber). This combination tried the same maneuver as Epaillard on the double and flew across the finishline. The clock showed a time of 41.98 seconds putting them in second place. Taking the lead of field was Julian Epaillard.
It was then in fourth place Patrice Delaveau and his Aquila HDC (by Orvidius) who had to deal with four penalties in the first round. In fifth place it was Simon Delestre and his Hermes Ryan (by Hugo Gesmeray) with also four penalties behind their name in the first round.
