For the hosting Stephex-team, the 7-year-old Future Stars Final presented by Zangersheide turned out to be a big success with Daniel Deusser (GER) winning on Stephex Stables’ BWP-mare Killer Queen Vdm (Eldorado van de Zeshoek x For Pleasure).
Ten out of the 47 7-year-olds jumped clear over the first round track in the main ring Zoute Plage, to qualify for the jump-off. As first to go, Emma Stoker (GBR) and the Hannoveraner-gelding Pembroke 3 (Perigueux x Quick Star) jumped clear and set the time to beat at 39.21 seconds. It took a few riders before anybody could catch up with Stoker, and the man to do so was no other than Christian Ahlmann (GER) flying the colours of the title-sponsor of the class, aboard the impressive Westphalian stallion Cornwell 9 (Cornado I x Grossadmiral). Christian cut every corner, and got a perfect angle to the penultimate vertical before he raced to the last fence – shaving the time down to 36.86 seconds.
It looked like it would be hard to beat, but Daniel Deusser would prove it otherwise. The feisty Killer Queen Vdm is for sure a real star for the future – and today the super quick mare showed what is in her when jumping a spectacular round in an incredible 35.29 seconds.
No one could catch Deusser, no matter how hard they tried. Wilm Vermier (BEL) gave it a real go though, and put the BWP gelding Kiarado (Diarado x Coreggio) in top gear from the very beginning sprinting down the first line – and then placing himself on the very left of the wing on the penultimate upright to save time. Despite being lifted up by the home crowds, it was just not enough – 35.69 seconds put him in between Deusser and Ahlmann as the sole Belgian in the top five.
The 6-year-old Future Stars Final presented by Lauretum saw the Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve-daughter Giddy Up ridden by Stefanie van den Brink (NED) on top.
39 riders had qualified for the final in this age group, and no less than 21 of them showed their quality to jump clear over the first round track to qualify for the jump-off. There, it was Stefanie van den Brink and the lovely chestnut mare that were the fastest to stop the clock at 40.39 seconds. Best of the home riders was Jordy van Massenhove (BEL) aboard the BWP-mare La Luna Hidalgo J&F (H&M Cabrio van de Heffinck x Quidam de Revel), also second in yesterday’s 6-year-old class. Only 0.31 seconds separated the top two riders, while Philipp Schöllhorn (GER) had 0.41 seconds up to the winning time on the Holsteiner-mare Damine (Guardus Limbus x Cordelabryere) to finish third.
