Kristaps Neretnieks  secures suprising GP qualifier victory in Sharjah
It was a strong field of competitors at the start in the 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier in Sharjah. In this class on time it was Kristaps Neretnieks who secured a surprising victory with almost two seconds difference.

Aboard is 14-year-old Cornet Obolensky-son, Moon Ray, Latvia's Neretnieks stopped the clock in 59.39 seconds. The pair was followed by Egypts Abdel Said with his 10-year-old Quidam de Revel-daughter, Venise du Reverdy. In 2017 Said took over the reins of this mare from Vincent Balleux. Said also placed fifth with the Belgian-bred Jumpy van de Hermitage. Before competed by Pieter Vandierendonck.

The stage was completed by Mark McAuley in the saddle of Vivaldi du Theil (Quaprice Boimargo Quincy), while Janika Sprunger jumped into the fourth position in this qualifier with her own 9-year-old Fancy Me (Forsyth FRH).
