Louise Saywell takes a strong start on the last day of the year in Liverpool
The international New Year's show in Liverpool kicked-off with a home win for Louise Saywell. Saywell jumped to victory in the 1.40m opening class after a jump-off with 12 combinations. Aboard Peiter VI (by Acorado) she crossed the finish in 27.54 seconds, just no three seconds faster as the runner-up.

Dermott Lennon followed as runner-up with the 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, Fleur IV (by Chatman). The halfsister of Abdullah Waleed Alsharbatly's Quebec (by Randel Z) stopped the time in 30.15 seconds.

Belgium's Constant van Paesschen completed the stage with the BWP-sire, Isidoor van de Helle (by Canturo). The sBs-approved stallion made it a clear finish in 30.22 seconds. The top five was completed by Michael Duffy (Dreamer, by Cevin Z) in fourth and Anna Power (Chesterfield Z, by Chippendale Z) in fifth.
