Maikel van der Vleuten and Verdi win first Global Champions League in Doha
The Belgian rider Gregory Wathelet and the twelve-year-old Forlop (Querlybet Hero x Heartbreaker) just missed the victory in the first GCL in Doha. Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten and VDL Groep Verdi TN (Quidam de Revel x Landgraf I) took that much-wanted first place with a time of 37,73 seconds in the jump-off. Wathelet came in second with 37,85 seconds.

The third place on the stage went to the Brazilian rider Eduardo Menezes and Galip (Nonstop). They needed about a second longer than Wathelet and Forlap. Lillie Keenan and Fibonacci (For Feeling), a horse we saw before with Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, took the fourth place for the United States. Janika Sprunger and Bacardi VDL (Corland) came in fifth.
