McLain Ward takes another win in Rome
For the third time this week McLain Ward speeds to victory in Rome. This time aboard the 10-year-old mare HH Azur (by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve). Course builder, Uliano Vezzani set a difficult track for the Grand Prix City of Rome. Only seven riders out of the 50 starters, produced a first clear round.

The best 12 combinations qualified for the winning round. The riders with four faults brought on their faults to the second round. Germany's Marcus Ehning was unlucky to record a time penalty in the first round, and the second time around he went for a safe clear round. A result good enough for the 4th place with his stallion Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat). Kent Farrington and Voyeur finished with a total of four points, placing fifth.

USA's Laura Kraut produced a double clear round. Together with the 9-year-old Quick Star-daughter Zeremonie she finished in 45.39 seconds, taking home the third place. Swedish Peder Fredricson and H&M All In (by Kashmir van Schuttershof) stopped the clock in 42.05 seconds. However this was not fast enough to beat McLain Ward's record time.

Together with HH Azur the pair finished in 40.45 seconds.
