The first day of the CSIO 5* La Baule concluded with the "Prix du Conseil Général de Loire Atlantique", a 1m50 competition with a total of 23500 Euro's in prize money. After a clear round in 67:43 seconds it was France's leading lady, Pénélope Leprevost and Genevieve Megret's nine year old Cardento-mare Nice Stephanie who took the victory. German rider Holder Wulschner and the 10-year-old Fine Lady (s. Forsyth) followed in a second place, finishing in 68:30 seconds. Patrice Delaveau and Orient Express*HDC (s. Quick Star) completed the stage with a clear round in 68:79 seconds, still earning a nice 3525 Euro's.François Mathy Jr. and his 10-year-old Polinska Des Isles (s. Diamant de Semilly). The pair made the finish fawless in a time of 70:13 seconds, good for the fourth position. Omer Karaevli and Rabane de Sury (s. Damiro B) followed in a fifth place, taking the lead on the Swiss Janika Sprunger and Uptown Boy. Out of the 64 starters, 15 crossed the finish line without making a fault.
