After winning the opening event of the CSI 3* and the Longines Race yesterday at the Longines Deauville Classic, Patrice Delaveau carried over his momentum Friday morning, winning the Horse Elite Award at 1.40m. The CSI1* riders then entered on course for their first test at 1.15m. At the age of just 14, the young Éden Leprevost Blin-Lebreton topped a field of 52 competitors. It was thus a truly blue-white-red and more particularly Norman morning which the Deauville public had
the chance to experience today!
Patrice Delaveau still in the lead
Starting at 8 a.m., the seventy-six combinations involved in the Horse Elite Prize set off on the track of the Deauville International Equestrian Complex. Judged over two phases, the event went off without a hitch for the 31 competitors who took to the starting line. And again, it was Patrice Delaveau and his lightning-fast Uthope de la Roque * HDC who came out on top. The Normandy native was the only one to complete the second part of the course in less than 30 s, with a time of 29.49 s. The colours of the La Roque stud also shone in second place, thanks to the strong performance of Starlette, visibly very comfortable this weekend under the saddle of Edward Levy (30.54 s). Egypt came in third place, thanks to the fast pace of Abdel Said and Hope van Scherpen Donder (31.14 s).
Eden Leprevost Blin Lebreton opens the ball in the CSI1*
Friday morning also marked the launch of the CSI 1*, which started with the Harcour Award, featuring thirteen efforts at 1.15 m. On her faithful Prodigy des Étisses, Éden Blin-Leprevost left nothing to chance, pulling off a very elegant and faultless round in 26.99 s. Starting 22nd place in the order of go, the young girl then lowered Gabin Ramel Jacob’s fastest lap time of 27 seconds (by almost one second) to finish second. Pierre-Alexis Testard and Ebalia SMH rounded out the podium thanks to a clear round in 28.69 s.
TWO VICTORIES IN TWO DAYS FOR GUY WILLIAMS
Days go by and look alike for Guy Williams and his powerful Rouge de Ravel! Already winners yesterday of the Prix Les Vignobles Bertrand Guindeuil, they win tonight the Prix de la ville de Deauville at 1.50m. A little earlier in the afternoon, the Prix Deauville International Pole offered Gabin Ramel Jacob a great revenge, who after a second place in the 1.15m this morning, finally won the second CSI1* class, at 1.30m.
Guy Williams, again!
Of the sixty-eight couples how have started the day’s major class, eleven have managed to qualify for the jump-off. First to start in this decisive round, Kevin Staut, saddle on his faithful Ayade de Septon*HDC, reiterate a very beautiful course without fault and moreover very fast, in 40”41. The Brazilian Luiz Francisco de Azevedo having preferred to preserve Hermes van de Vrombautshoeve, the French puts the pressure on nine pursuers. After a first course very applied Lalie Saclier and Tescari’Jac lower the chronometer by a few hundredths, finishing in 39”92, but the small fault conceded on the oxer in the colors of the Barrière Hotels, will finally relegate them to the 7th place. Titouan Schumacher will be the first to pass under the 40” without fault, thanks to a frantic barrage buckled in 38”77. But the French couple can keep pole position only a few moments before the British Guy Williams lowered his clock just a second, closing a perfect jump-off in 37”77. This is a second victory in two days for Great Britain! “I am delighted with the start of the weekend and also offer two victories to my owners located a few kilometers from here. They are happy so I am happy!” said the rider, a few seconds before the awards ceremony.
The revenge of Gabin Ramel Jacob
They were eighty-four at the start of the Prix du Pôle International du Cheval this afternoon, on the arena. Dubbed this morning by Eden Leprevost Blin-Lebreton in the Prix Harcour, Gabin Ramel Jacob this time secured the victory with his twelve-year-old mare, Strass de Villers. Author of a beautiful course signed in 58”64, he is more than four seconds ahead of the experienced Florian Angot, saddle on Uffaine du Meugon, who finished his round in 62”96. Best horsewoman of the class, the Brazilian Monika Guillon is coming in third place, thanks to the nice course of her young Kwikly, in 63”01.
€48,500 raised for the association Just World International
Last night, the Longines Deauville Classic hosted the annual gala of the association Just World International. Organized for the benefit of children in difficulty in Cambodia, Guatemala and Honduras, the evening included an auction which raised no less than 48,500 euros in donations for the association’s actions.
