Richard Howley tops the CSIO5* Grand Prix in Gijon
It turned out to be an exciting battle in the 1.60m CSIO5* Grand Prix in Gijon. Eventually only four combinations produced a double clear round. Ireland's Richard Howley speeded to victory aboard J.A. Smak and R.J. Steging's breeding product, Dolores (Berlin).

Together with the 10-year-old KWPN-mare, Howley crossed the finish in 59.86 seconds.

Belgium's former Belgian Champion, Gilles Dunon, followed as runner-up with Elke Bombaerts' Fou de Toi vd Keihoeve (Toulon). Dutch show jumping rider, Doron Kuipers completed the stage aboard his trusted Charley (Calido I).

Also Brasil's Stephan de Freitas Barcha kept a clear score with Artois d'Avillon (Kashmir van Schuttershof) and eventually settled for the fourth spot. The fastest chrono was set by Eduardo Alvarez Aznar in the saddle of Seringat (Chef Rouge). With one jumping fault the pair completed the top five of this CSIO5* Grand Prix.
